Anyone planning on starting their new year off with a park run or a wild swim may want to wrap up in a few extra layers of clothes before braving the wind, rain and cold forecast.
A yellow cold health alert has been issued for the West Midlands by the UK Health Security Agency in response to below freezing temperatures expected for the first few days of the year.
Similar alerts have been put in place across the rest of England.
The warning will be in place from 9am on New Year’s Day (Wednesday) to 9am on January 4 (Saturday).
A spokesperson for the UKHSA said: “There is potential for significant impacts across health and social car services including a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions.
“We may also see impacts on younger age groups.”
The HSA has also warned there is a likely increase in demand for health services, impacts on the workforce which will affect the delivery of services and challenges keeping indoor temperatures at the recommended 18c, potentially causing further risk to vulnerable people.
A yellow warning for wind in Worcestershire is also in place from 7am to 11.59pm tomorrow (Wednesday).
While the alert ends on Saturday (January 4) at 9am, temperatures may drop below freezing once again at the start of the following week (Monday, January 6).
With the low temperatures forecast, The Weather Outlook is estimated the snow could hit Worcestershire in the first half of January.
