Work ‘around the clock’ to remove Gobowen landslip say Network Rail

Wrexham.com > News European Elections 2014

It could be tomorrow before the impacts of a landslip are resolved, with Network Rail working ‘around the clock’.

On Saturday evening a landslip was reported at Gobowen, which meant the line from Wrexham General towards Shrewsbury was blocked.

As a result, trains were diverted between Chester and Shrewsbury, not calling at Wrexham General, Ruabon, Chirk and Gobowen.

This afternoon a Network Rail spokesperson told Wrexham.com : “Our teams are working around the clock to remove earth following a landslip near Gobowen, on the line between Shrewsbury and Wrexham.

“Work is progressing well, and we hope to safely reopen the line as soon as possible.

“Trains will continue to be diverted via Crewe, with replacement buses running between Shrewsbury and Wrexham. Customers are advised to check before they travel.”
