This marked their second appearance at the globally recognised event.
Despite challenging weather conditions, including strong winds, cold, and heavy rain, the Worcester Polish Association marched with pride and determination.
Their efforts earned them the prestigious London’s New Year’s Day Parade Award 2025.
Tomasz Wisniewski, chairman of the Worcester Polish Association, hailed this as a historic milestone for Worcester’s Polish community.
The parade, which has been entertaining audiences since 1987, is an annual tradition that celebrates music, culture, and diversity.
It features more than 10,000 performers from the UK, USA, Europe, and beyond, attracting over 500,000 spectators on the streets of London and reaching a global television audience of more than 500 million viewers.
The Polish group, Poles in LNYDP, featured over 200 participants, representing Worcester, Poland, and the Polish community in the UK.
Their performance highlighted Polish heritage, culture, and history through traditional folk dances, colourful costumes, and displays celebrating Poland’s contributions to science and culture.
Mr Wisniewski expressed his pride in leading Worcester’s Polish community at the parade.
He said: “The Polish people proudly took part in London’s New Year’s Day Parade, showcasing our rich heritage and culture.
“We were honoured to represent Worcester, our British friends, and our great ally.
“Anglo-Polish relations date back over a thousand years, and it is a privilege to continue this friendship today.”
Marta Kojscarz, operations director of the association, added: “We were honoured to walk shoulder to shoulder with our British friends, celebrating diversity, unity, and shared history.
“Representing Worcester on this global stage is a source of immense pride.
“Our participation ensures that Worcester’s name is heard across the world, highlighting its vibrant cultural tapestry and strong ties with Poland.”
The parade not only showcased cultural heritage but also supported charitable causes, with over £2 million raised for London charities through the London Borough Competition.
