Woodford Valley Players’ 2025 variety show show sells out

The group will celebrate a decade of delighting audiences with four sold-out performances at Middle Woodford Village Hall next week.

The show promises a ‘ravishing and riotous rendezvous of frivolity and farce’ with a mix of singing, dancing, sketches and monologues.

Woodford Valley Players was founded in 2014 by Tricia Friskney-Adams, a former deputy head at South Wilts Grammar School.

The group staged their first production, Cinderella and the Wolf, in January 2015.

After Tricia relocated, the talented Ness Hawkins took over as director and scriptwriter, guiding the players through a mix of pantomimes and plays, before they settled on the variety show format five years ago with Rowena Paxman in the director’s chair.

This year’s performance features a cast of 15 performers supported by a backstage crew of five.

Audiences can expect an eclectic mix of choreographed musical numbers, sketch-show imitations and off-the-wall recitations.

Anthony Edwards, who has lived locally for 50 years, said: “The Woodford Valley Players have been bringing joy and laughter to our community for a decade.

“It’s a testament to their creativity and hard work that they continue to entertain us with such vibrant and engaging performances.

“This year’s show sounds like the perfect way to brighten up a cold January evening.”

Tickets for Snowflakes and Spotlights sold out in record time.
