Luckily, The Telegraph has compiled a list of the best winter experiences in the UK and has included three from Scotland.
Introducing the ranking, which features activities in places like the Lake District and Yorkshire, the publication said that while you may be forgiven for going into hibernation this season, there are hundreds of winter experiences awaiting you.
It added that these activities will warm you up quite nicely without requiring the use of costly central heating.

Hit the surf in Caithness
The newspaper says the beaches in this part of Scotland are some of the country’s “cleanest, wildest, emptiest and most invigorating”.
These areas are also slapped by the UK’s most northerly surf break, which is best between the autumn and spring.
North Coast Watersports offers lessons to those looking to try their hand at a bit of surfing at Dunnet Beach and many others.

Ice climb in the Highlands
Highland Ascents’ experienced mountaineers are said to offer private guidance from Glencoe and the Cairngorms.
These guides can help thrill-seekers tick off bucket list spots like Ben Nevis’ Tower Ridge (the UK’s only true alpine ridge) and the “infamous” Point Five Gully.

Build a snow hole in the Cairngorms
Scot Mountain Holidays offers a snow hole expedition, which is said to require not only a “spirit of adventure but a dump of the white stuff”.
Thankfully, this is not a problem in the Cairngorms, making this the ideal trip for those looking to hike in the icy wilderness, learn mountain skills and dig their own snow shelter.
