Dr Kay Linnell, a forensic accountant, was recognised in the 2025 New Year’s Honours List.
She has been a Soroptimist for more than 40 years in several clubs before joining the Winchester branch.
During this time, she has held a number of roles, including regional president of the Southern England Region.
Dr Linnell was recognised for her services to justice for her work in the Subpostmasters Alliance in the recent Post Office Horizon scandal.

Recently, Dr Linnell and her business partner, Barbara Jeremiah, presented their experiences in the case at the Cardio Rehab lecture at The Maltings in Alton, where they told how over many years they had investigated the accounts and contracts and advised the subpostmasters.
A Soroptimist International Winchester spokesperson said: “This is a great honour for Kay and for Soroptimists everywhere and we congratulate her on her award and her addition to an impressive roll call of inspiring women.”
Soroptimist International is a global women’s organisation and members will be holding orange events all over the world.
The organisation has consultative status at the United Nations and supports many of the international events relating to UN Women and special days.
The work that members do in their clubs both locally and internationally is reported to the UN, which uses the data to help form a picture of world situations where resources are required.
