Winchester MP Danny Chambers backs Cats Protection campaign

Danny Chambers joined fellow MPs and peers to discuss the charity’s campaigns to improve animal welfare laws for cats.

The UK’s biggest cat charity, Cats Protection, hosted the parliamentary reception to raise awareness of key issues, including the need for cat breeding regulations and introducing better protection for pet-owning renters.

Mr Chambers said: “As a vet, I’ve treated hundreds of cats whose owners adopted their pet from Cats Protection, so I was delighted to meet their veterinary team and thank them in person for the work they do.

“I’m delighted that my Animal Welfare Bill, which will drastically reduce the risk of harm to cats and dogs, has been overwhelmingly supported in Parliament and a step closer to becoming law.”

Cats Protection’s associate director of advocacy, campaigns and external affairs, Madison Rogers, said: “It was brilliant to meet so many politicians – some for the first time – to discuss the work we do to improve the lives of cats and their owners.”
