Wick blood donation session planned as more than 1200 give in Highland campaign so far

More than 1200 people have donated blood or plasma since the launch of our Give Blood, Save Lives campaign.

Our Give Blood, Save Lives campaign to boost blood donations across the north has now passed the 1000 mark.

As of this week the number of donations received across the Highlands and Moray since we launched the campaign in November stood at 1248 – a significant increase from the just under 600 who had donated just before Christmas.

That figure includes 83 first-time donors and means that up to 3744 people in need can have been helped, which each donation able to be split into three to provide for specific needs.

There have also been 67 plasma-only donations – plasma being a component of blood that can be used specifically to provide treatments for those with compromised immune systems including cancer patients.
