Meet with a wide variety of local organisations needing volunteers all under one roof in the heart of Newbury.
Apple Wassail and pruning event, City Rec Orchard, 10am.
Traditionally a Wassail involves singing, shouting, banging pots to drive away evil orchard spirits, hanging toast on branches and pouring cider on trees to encourage a good harvest in the coming year. Things to bring with you: warm clothing and good footwear; a pot/saucepan and something to hit it with; cider; slices of toast. Pruning will follow.

A talk by Peter Gill on the life of Jerry Lee Lewis, taking us through the highs and lows of the first wild man of rock and roll, the history of Jerry’s life, while giving a performance of a selection of his great songs.

Kintbury Wildlife Group meeting, Coronation Hall, Inkpen Road, 7.30pm, £3.
The group presents our New Year party, with members’ wildlife photos, a prize wildlife ID quiz and refreshments provided by those attending. There will be a raffle.
