AS we have just published a news item, where Harlow MP Chris Vince made reference to the playing fields at Church Langley, we wondered: whatever happened to the money promised for sports facilities in Church Langley?
To recap-planning permission was granted for new housing in Purford Green, back in 2021.
But like many things, there is then a delay due to sorting out the Sec 106 agreement (see Gilston for details).
Sec 106 money is for infrastructure etc.
So we asked Harlow Council, where are were with this?
A spokesperson said: “In April the council received the Section 106 money from the Purford Green School development to support new sports facilities in Church Langley.
“The council is working closely and supporting the South East Harlow Youth & Sports Association (SEYHSA) to develop a new sports pavilion at Church Langley Country Park.
The development of a new pavilion will be supported with funding from the Section 106 and other funding.
“The council plans to carry out statutory public consultation shortly.
“The council has also recently set out the steps that need to be taken to move the project forward. This includes the council and SEYHSA agreeing a new lease for site, SEYHSA submitting a full planning application following the completion of successful public consultation, and SEYSHA submitting a capital funding application to the Football Foundation.”
