Construction work on a toucan crossing at Westlands Roundabout in Droitwich is nearly finished as Worcestershire County Council revealed some final road closures before the work is finished.
Worcestershire County Council started the work in September after Westland estate residents petitioned for a safer crossing over the route connecting the 70mph A38 road.

The highways authority will close the central southwest section of the roundabout between 8pm on Wednesday, January 15 and 6am on Thursday, January 16.
It will also run a daytime lane closure across the A442 on both Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17.

“There will then need to be a safety audit before anything becomes operational.”
It is then hoped that the traffic in the area will ease.
Worcestershire County Council was given £459,899 by Active Travel England to build the pedestrian crossing over the A38.
Part of the plans for the toucan crossing led the council to make the roundabout narrower, and traffic lights were installed.
It is hoped the crossing will improve connectivity for those walking, wheeling and cycling in the area who were struggling to cross the roundabout from the Westlands estate.
