West Kilbride: Quattro MacJazz to perform music concert

Renowned for their engaging Dixieland style and versatile repertoire, the group promises a lively evening of old favourites and contemporary pieces, appealing to a wide spectrum of music lovers.

Banjoist Duncan Findlay embodies the group’s eclectic spirit. With a career spanning performances from Matt Monro to commercial jingles, Findlay credits his longevity to maintaining ‘an open musical mind’ and embracing a variety of styles.

Joining him is clarinettist Hamish McGregor, a stalwart of Scotland’s jazz scene for over 60 years. Known for his iconic white clarinet and charismatic presence, McGregor also leads the tribute show ‘Remembering Acker’, celebrating the late jazz legend Acker Bilk.

Bassist Roy Percy, a familiar face to local audiences, brings his dynamic ‘slap bass’ technique, reminiscent of the energetic styles of the 1920s through the 1940s. Percy has previously wowed West Kilbride audiences as part of the Tim Kliphuis Trio.

Completing the lineup is cornet player Mike Daly, celebrated for his tasteful style, often likened to jazz great Bix Beiderbecke. Daly, a founding member of The Rhythm Kings, has extensive experience across jazz and show bands throughout the UK.

The concert begins at 7.30pm in West Kilbride Village Hall, with free entry for Music in West Kilbride members, full-time students, and accompanied children.

Don’t miss this chance to experience an evening of toe-tapping, joyous music. Further details are available at http://musicinwk.org.
