There must be something in the sea air of late – with Tenby’s famous beaches becoming a hot-spot for wedding proposals – with the latest on Saturday seeing a Saundersfoot couple agree to take the plunge, on a morning they’re shore to remember!
At around 10.45am on January 11, on a blustery morning on Iron Bar Sands, in between Castle and South beaches, Thomas Wooles popped the question to Pettrina Williams, after he had written the words ‘Will You Marry Me, Pet?’ in the sand earlier that morning; before taking his girlfriend back to the spot, where she replied by scribbling ‘Yes’ underneath.

Their Labrador ‘Willow’ was also with them to witness the special occasion.
They plan on getting married next year.

Only recently, as hundreds of Tenby Boxing Day bathers attended the event, a magical moment was happening between a couple who were ready to dash for the sea, when Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, thirty-four-year-old Philip Frith, made one of his best-ever moves when he popped the question to his girlfriend, thirty-seven-year-old Victoria Tansey.
Fortunately, she said an ecstatic ‘yes’ to the carefully-planned proposal, which saw the couple’s special song ‘Ocean Eyes’ by Billie Eilish sound out over the beach by local DJ Steve Briers as the newly-engaged couple celebrated with a splash in the sea.
“I’ve been so nervous,” Philip confessed, as Victoria who is originally from Hakin, Milford Haven added: “I’m just shocked – but so happy!”

“When we first met, Victoria couldn’t wait to show me all around Pembrokeshire and we have made the trip as often as work would allow us, to visit her family, go beach hopping and take in the breathtaking scenery,” said Philip.
“So, on our first Christmas together as a couple, Victoria surprised me by taking me to Tenby for the Boxing Day Swim – it’s honestly one of my most fond memories from the start of our relationship!”
