Washington man charged after vehicle driven at pedestrian

Northumbria Police have been looking into several incidents of antisocial behaviour in Washington and a 20-year-old man has been charged with 10 offences in court.

On a different occasion fireworks were fired out of a moving vehicle in the Concord area.

Last Friday, the 20-year-old appeared at a magistrates’ court and he was charged with 10 offences including handling of stolen goods, dangerous driving and affray.

He remains in custody until his next court appearance later this month.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We’ve secured charges against a man linked with a number of reports of antisocial behaviour in Washington.

“On one occasion, it was reported that fireworks were being launched from a moving vehicle in the Concord area.

“A further incident involved a vehicle being driven at a pedestrian on the forecourt of a petrol station.

“Following a thorough investigation, we arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the reports.

“On Friday, he appeared before magistrates, charged with a total of 10 offences, including the handling of stolen goods, dangerous driving and affray.

“He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance later this month.”
