Unexploded bomb in Cotswold High Street dubbed best in UK

Emergency services were spotted in Chipping Campden’s High Street when police were called to a property after reports of a suspected grenade. 

Police and the army have been on the scene since 8.40am this morning (Friday).

(Image: Gloucestershire Constabulary) A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “Police were called at around 8.40am today (Friday) after a suspected grenade from World War 1 was discovered inside a property on Chipping Campden, High Street, Cotswold.

“The EOD was contacted, attended and removed the item in order to detonate it in a nearby field.”

One resident, shocked to see such a high police presence, said: “Chipping Campden is not where I expected to see the police and army.”

A picture issued by police shows a grenade-like object wrapped in old newspapers. 

During today’s incident, Gloucestershire Constabulary had cordoned off a section of the road of the High Street.
