The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, January 1, when suspects arrived at a home on Park Road South, in Middlesbrough, between 2.15 a.m. and 2.25 a.m.
Travelling in a taxi, the individuals reportedly used hammers to cause significant damage to the property before fleeing the scene in the same vehicle, heading towards Marton Road.
The suspects are described as white males. One was wearing a jacket with a fur-lined hood, while the other was dressed in a thin, black jacket.
Cleveland Police are urging anyone in the area with CCTV footage from that time or additional information about the incident to come forward.
Officers are also keen to hear from the driver of the taxi used by the suspects.
