Twisted Spoon in Town coming soon to Friar Street, Worcester

Twisted Spoon In Town is coming soon to 12 Friar Street in Worcester, formerly the Friar Street Kitchen.

Director and owner Louise Baker, who runs Twisted Spoon Ltd with husband and head chef Mark Baker, hopes they can open the new business, which will also serve alcohol, in mid-March although an opening date has yet to be formally announced.

The couple opened the Twisted Spoon at the Oak in Upton Snodsbury near Worcester a decade ago in May which will remain open, running alongside the new venture.

Indeed, the hope is that the new city restaurant will complement the service they already provide at the Oak, building on that foundation.

When the business in Worcester opens, it will seat around 30 people but will also be available to hire out for private parties.

Mrs Baker said the menu was still being developed. However, the hope is the Worcester venue will offer ‘British Tapas’, hot nibbles for grazing and sharing boards paired with wines and beers.

The ingredients will be fresh and locally sourced and include ‘bespoke dining’ items like Scotch eggs, mini fish and chips, fine cheeses and charcuterie.

Mrs Baker said: “We’re very excited and there’s nothing quite like it in Worcester. The kitchen is being revamped and it’s going to be nice, bright and airy. Because of the size of the restaurant, it can also be hired for private parties.”

Opening hours have also yet to be agreed but brunch is expected to be a feature.

Twisted Spoon at the Oak is also known for its afternoon tea with a twist which was how it earned its name.

The business is in the process of reapplying for the premises alcohol licence. The licence involves the selling of alcohol between 10am and 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 10pm on Sundays.

Twisted Spoon at the Oak in Upton Snodsbury represented the couple’s dream of running their own tea house ‘with a twist’ which was how the business got its name.

The business serves breakfast, luncheon, ‘twisted’ high tea and sweet twisted treats but the new branch of the business in Worcester will be offering something new to the people of the city.
