Traffic lights to remain in Bildeston High Street until early next week following burst water main

Traffic lights will remain in a village high street until early next week following a burst water main.

Hundreds of properties in Bildeston and the surrounding villages were left with little or no water on New Year’s Day and yesterday due to two leaks.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We’re sorry that some customers in Bildeston may have experienced low water pressures or no water at all on Wednesday.

“This was due to a burst water main, which our team has now fixed. While our engineers were repairing this burst pipe, they discovered another leak, which is also now being put right.

“All customers should now be back on normal water pressures.

“In order to keep our team and other road users safe while we work, we’ve had to install two-way traffic lights on the High Street in Bildeston.

“We’re expecting to fully reopen the road by early next week. We’d like to thank our customers in Bildeston for bearing with us while we get things back to normal.”
