Engineers from the North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN) are carrying out essential work to upgrade the gas pipes in Beeston, Leeds.
This work involves replacing the old metal underground pipes with more durable plastic equivalents to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Leeds.
From Monday (6 January 2025) work will move to the junction of Elland Road and Lowfields Road South for one week.
In order to carry out this stage of the work safely and efficiently, and to protect members of the public, it will be necessary to install a lane closure on Elland Road which may affect traffic travelling on Elland Road towards the roundabout.
If you’re planning to attend the Leeds United v Harrogate Town FA Cup match on Saturday 11 January, your journey may be affected, so please allow more time for your journey.
This project has been ongoing since September and is expected to finish in January 2025. It has been planned in collaboration with Leeds City Council.
Chris Reed, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said:
“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it’s vital we complete them to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Leeds.”
For further information about the work please contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email: customercare@northerngas.co.uk.
