Tickets on sale for 1950s pantomime at Beamish Museum

Each weekend until February 16, the Beamish Amateur Dramatic Society will perform ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ in the museum’s 1950s welfare hall.

Lisa Powell, Beamish pantomime director and operational lead for the 1950s welfare hall, said: “While everyone knows the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, it’s a pantomime being performed at Beamish Museum, so it’s going to have a Beamish twist.”

Beamish, The Living Museum of the North welcomed more than 800,000 visitors last year (Image: Supplied) Now in its third year, the 50-minute show is written, directed, and performed by museum staff and volunteers.

Tickets, which must be booked in advance, are £3 per person, with under 5s free.

Museum admission charges apply.

Porle Miller, Beamish pantomime scriptwriter, and museum engager, said: “Whenever we undertake a panto performance, we strive to retain the charm, naivety, and understated production values of the 1950s, which we believe enhances the visitors’ immersion into the era they’re visiting at the time.

“This is a show put together by a community so that everyone can have a good time.”

Visitors can also explore the museum’s other attractions, from Georgian gardens and a coal mine tour to The 1940s Farm and The 1950s Town.

Beamish Museum is open Friday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm until February 21, 2025.
