Thinford man cycles 900 miles on stationary bike for charity

Peter Daglish, 36, of Thinford, undertook the challenge at his OneGym, to cover the equivalent of the distance from his home to Munich – raising more than £1,600.

His effort was in honour of his dad, Michael, 65, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier in 2024 – but has since been given the all-clear.

Mr Daglish, who took several weeks to cover the distance said: “When my dad was diagnosed, it was a shock for all of us.

“Thankfully, he’s now all clear, but the experience made me realise how important it is to raise awareness about prostate cancer.

“The challenge was tough, both mentally and physically, but having the support of OneGym and its members kept me going.

“I’m proud to have raised money for Prostate Cancer UK and hope it can help others who are going through similar experiences.”

OneGym director Paul Pearson said: “Peter’s commitment and determination have been truly inspiring.

“At OneGym, we’re all about helping people achieve their goals, whether they’re fitness-related or for a cause like this.”

According to Prostate Cancer UK, the disease is the most common cancer among men in the UK, with one in eight men diagnosed during their lifetime.

The funds raised by Mr Daglish will help in the charity’s mission to improve research, diagnosis, and support for those affected.
