The Wired Lobby, in Captain Cook Square, was described as a “cutting-edge” gaming paradise with PCs, consoles, and a racing simulator when it opened in December 2023.
However, just months after it opened to the public, the former Peacocks store was shuttered, weeks after a sudden temporary closure.
It later emerged that the managing agent of the complex had sent in bailiffs following an alleged breach of the terms and conditions of the operator’s lease.
It has now been revealed that The Wired Lobby’s former home, Unit 5 at Captain Cook Square, has been placed on the market, with a rental price of £75,000 per annum.

It comes months after the owners of the bar went into administration, with documents released in July revealing debts of more than £900,000.
The documents show how creditors have filed claims for around £923,000, with two of the amounts owed being to Middlesbrough Council, one at £308,752 and another at £88,118.
The Northern Echo understands that the council has completed the process with the appointed liquidators, and has full possession of the equipped unit.

The listing describes the property as being in a “prominent location overlooking the main piazza” and benefits from its proximity to the bus station, multi-storey car park, and taxis.
The site is being offered on a new effectively full repairing and insuring lease, subject to upward only rent reviews every five years.
As reported, The Wired Lobby opened in late 2023 following months of delays, with bosses previously setting a May 2022 opening date.
However, when it finally opened in late 2023, it featured state-of-the-art PCs, an arena to host live events and esports tournaments, and a full bar.

Its closure followed a turbulent few months for the site, which reportedly closed temporarily before reopening for several weeks. It then was confirmed to be closed permanently on April 17.
Despite remaining shut since, the regeneration of Captain Cook Square has continued to progress, with last year seeing the openings of Fun Shack and Inflatespace, restaurant Bazaar, and American burger chain Wendy’s.
Work is also currently underway on the new boutique cinema, which is currently earmarked to open some time later this year.
