The Music of Sound releases new single to rave reviews

The Music of Sound features Basingstoke resident and South Indian vocalist Sherin, Welsh composer and keyboardist Neil March, and flautist and BA student Elena Trent.

The band, which creates postclassical dream pop music, was formed in 2017 after Neil was booked to play at Latitude Festival as a solo artist but wanted to play with a band on stage.

The group’s newest single, Cold Weather Man, was released in December 2024 and has been played on a number of radio stations including by DJ Adam Walton on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Oxford and Berkshire.

The single has also been well-received by music writers in India, the USA, the UK and Spain, and has entered the European Indie Network Charts.

Sherin said the band was thrilled that its newest single was being received positively, adding: “‘We are super excited by the attention we are getting from the media in India and to have the endorsement of BBC Introducing and BBC Orbit too is awesome.

“We are especially grateful for the ongoing support from Adam Walton who is such an amazing champion of independent music.”
