BLOOD test services (Phlebotomy) at The Princess Alexandra Hospital are being temporarily relocated on Monday 6 January from Gibberd Ward to the old therapies gym, which is located on the ground floor in the Blue Zone, at the end of the Cardiology corridor.
Works are currently underway to improve facilities in the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at the hospital. The temporary relocation of blood test services is taking place so that Gibberd Ward can be used as a temporary Urgent Treatment Centre whilst works are carried out in the department.
- Patients that have appointments will be notified by text message of this change in location.
- All new bookings will be made for the temporary location and communicated accordingly.
- Blood test services (Phlebotomy) at Herts and Essex Hospital, Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital, Epping, will be unaffected.
- Opening hours are also unaffected and services will be open from 7am to 4:30pm; with appointments booked online using the Swift queue system.
When the Urgent Treatment Centre is relocated back to the main building, which is expected to be in the spring, the blood test service(Phlebotomy) will relocate back to Gibberd Ward.
