Mayor Ben Houchen’s team have once again sponsored a category for the event on April 11 – this year choosing to support New Businesses in the region.
The awards have been transformed for 2025 after our announcement that the headline sponsor will be Amazon – a major investor across the North East – and the venue will be none other than Wynyard Hall – one of the most prestigious locations in the region.
On Friday, April 11 our guests and sponsors will be able to enjoy the luxury and style of Wynyard, including the Statue Gallery, Library, Mirror Room and Ballroom before the awards are handed out in the Conservatory.

Ben Houchen told The Northern Echo: “We’re proud to support the New Business Category at the BUSINESSiQ Awards, celebrating innovative start-ups and SMEs across the Tees Valley economy.
“Through our funded support programmes, grant funding, and tailored solutions, we’re helping budding entrepreneurs develop their skills, secure investment, and access industry expertise to grow and thrive.
“With the UK Shared Prosperity Funding ending on 31 March, there’s still time for new and growing businesses to benefit from this invaluable support.
“The event shines a spotlight on the innovators, risk-takers, and job creators driving the Tees Valley economy forward.

“These businesses are the lifeblood of our region, demonstrating resilience, creativity, and a commitment to growth. It’s always inspiring to celebrate their achievements and hear their stories.
“We’re looking forward to an evening that showcases the incredible talent and entrepreneurial spirit that make our local economy thrive.”
The region has changed beyond recognition over the last few years, as global businesses have invested here, particularly at Teesworks, and Mayor Houchen said the region was well on its way to becoming a ‘superpower’.
“Tees Valley is facing a year of exciting opportunities in 2025, and we’re determined to help our region thrive,” he said.
“With £21.1million allocated through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for 2025/26, we’re focusing on kickstarting economic growth, breaking down barriers to opportunity, and driving forward our ambition to make Tees Valley a superpower in industries from clean energy to digital and manufacturing to services.
“Local businesses are at the heart of this effort, with a suite of tailored support set to help them tackle challenges and seize opportunities in the coming year. From targeted funding to expert advice, we’re here to ensure our firms can grow, innovate, and succeed.”
