Nicole Hayes, the manager of the Tan Hill Inn, joined The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X on Tuesday morning to share insights into life at the pub during the UK’s latest cold snap.
Twenty-three guests, including a four-year-old child, and six staff members have been snowed in since January 5.

The historic pub, located at 1,732ft (528m) above sea level in the north Pennines, was surrounded by snowdrifts and icy winds. Guests and staff were left stranded by the wintry conditions.
Ms Hayes described the situation as “like the ultimate lock-in.”

“We had a chilled day; we have a little movie day. We had our snowball fight,” she told radio presenter Chris Moyles.
“We all came in, warmed back up, had a movie day, watched The Goonies, had some tea.
“People went and got showered and bathed and stuff, came back down, and then we just partied the night away.”
An Australian guest, Paul Wright, has been learning to build a snowman with the help of the manager.
(Image: TAN HILL INN) Taking to Facebook, the pub posted: “Day two of our ‘snow-in’ and manager Nicole has been showing Australian guest Paul how to build a snowman here at Britain’s highest pub.
“It’s been a bit of an adventure for Paul, his wife Naomi, and son Declan who were caught by the weekend snowstorm on their first trip to the UK.”
Mr Wright said: “As well as making my first snowman, I’m getting a liking for the huge Yorkshire puddings and the Tan Hill bitter.
“The staff have been amazing. They are working so hard.
“We offered to wash the dishes but they weren’t having it.”
The Chris Moyles Show is on Radio X weekdays from 6:30am – 10am and on Global Player.
