Tadley: Plan submitted to use property as 10 bedroom HMO

The retrospective planning application seeks permission for the change of use for property in The Green to be used as a 10-bed HMO.

In an application to the borough council, Harminder Hunjan said the house is currently being used by up to six residents who have lived in the property since September 2024.

The proposals outline plans for the number of residents to increase to 10 in the two-storey property. The house includes two kitchens, a utility room, a shower room, a lounge, and three bedrooms including one ensuite on the ground floor.

The first floor includes a bathroom, dressing room, two bedrooms with ensuites, two bedrooms with a Jack and Jill ensuite and an additional two bedrooms.

The applicant said that granting the application would have no adverse impact on the area or the amenities of neighbouring residents as no external changes are proposed.

They added that ‘all rooms exceed the minimum floor areas required’ with rooms located away from communal kitchens in order to avoid noise disturbance for residents.

The site has ‘ample parking’, with eight spaces for residents, as well as space for bicycle storage, according to the applicant with residents also able to access the property by foot.

The applicant concluded: “We believe the proposal as submitted is wholly appropriate for the site and the context of the wider area and therefore, we trust that the application will be supported by the planning authority.”
