Sydenham man charged with attempted robbery and dangerous driving after police pursuit ends in crash – Southwark News

A Sydenham man has been charged with attempted robbery and dangerous driving after suspects allegedly crashed during a police pursuit.

Mustafa Rahim, 28, of the Kingswood Estate, is among four men who appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, January 4.

Tajsharn Cummings, 25, of no fixed address, John Smith, 24, of Essex, and Deniqko Benton, 19, of East Ham, were also charged with robbery.

Kent Police were called to a house in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, at around 9pm, on Thursday, January 2, following reports of intruders forcing entry.

Police rushed to the scene and found two occupants suffering head injuries who were taken to hospital.

On the A20 towards Lewisham, police reportedly told the driver of a Ford Focus to stop but the vehicle allegedly continued onwards.

The vehicle then allegedly struck a barrier and the occupants left on foot.

Four suspects were later arrested and taken into custody with the assistance of the police helicopter and Metropolitan Police patrols.

As well as attempted robbery, Mr Rahim was charged with dangerous driving and Mr Benton with possession of cannabis.

The four men were remanded to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on 3 February.
