Sue Ryder calling for volunteers for its charity shops

Sue Ryder is encouraging people to make it their New Year’s resolution to volunteer at their local Sue Ryder shop in 2025.

The charity has a shop in Wote Street, Basingstoke, at Chineham Shopping Centre, and in Church Crookham at Ridgeway Parade.

Sue Ryder, which provides palliative and bereavement care, believes this is a great opportunity for people looking for fresh starts in the new year to gain experience and meet new people.

Volunteers can assist with various tasks such as sorting and preparing stock, merchandising and sales.

Volunteer manager at Sue Ryder, Lucy Swann, said: “We would absolutely love if any budding volunteers out there would consider making it their New Year’s resolution to come and join us.

“Our team of retail volunteers are an invaluable part of our charity and play a critical part in helping us raise enough money so Sue Ryder can keep caring for people in hospices and providing nationwide bereavement support, ensuring no one has to face dying or grief alone.

“We rely on the support of our dedicated volunteers, who are a lifeline to our shops, and we simply could not operate without them.

“Sue Ryder is committed to making volunteering with us a rewarding, inclusive and empowering experience for everybody.

“We would like to appeal to any of your readers who would like to find out more about joining our team.

“No matter how much time you have, we would love you to hear from you.”

The charity operates almost 400 shops across the UK.

These shops are an important source of funding for Sue Ryder’s care and support services.

The money raised in the shops helps the charity provide critical care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and those coping with grief.

The charity is hopeful that by attracting new volunteers in 2025, it can continue to support those in need of their care.

To register interest in volunteering with Sue Ryder, the charity has invited potential volunteers to sign up on its website.
