Students join photography enthusiasts for exhibition

Photography students will be exhibiting their work alongside photography experts at an event in Newton Abbot next month.

The Newton Abbot Photographic Club pop-up exhibition will feature the work of GCSE and A-Level students from Combeshead Academy, Newton Abbot College, Teign School and South Dartmoor College alongside images created by members of Newton Abbot Photographic Club.

This is the second time Newton Abbot Photographic Club has invited local students to participate in a pop-up exhibition. ‘Last year’s event was such a success we were keen to organise another event and we are really pleased to have Teign School on board for the first time,’ said Newton Abbot Photographic Club chair Kevin Bennett.

‘Not only will the exhibition provide visitors with the chance to appreciate photography as an art form, but it’s a great opportunity to encourage and showcase the work of the next generation of photographers,’ Kevin added.

After last year’s inaugural event, Newton Abbot College art subject team leader Julia Payne said students, parents and staff that attended were ‘so proud there work had been included’ and that they had been ‘inspired’ by the photographic work of other schools and Newton Abbot Photographic Club members.

The pop-up exhibition takes place between 4pm and 8pm on Tuesday February 4 at the Courtenay Centre in Newton Abbot. Entry to the event is free.
