A Stroud filmmaker’s latest true crime documentary, The Amazon Review Killer, a two-part true-crime documentary, will premiere on Channel 4 on Monday.
Both episodes will air back-to-back at 10pm on Monday, January 6, and immediately thereafter be available on Channel 4’s streaming service.
The Amazon Review Killer follows the shocking case of Todd Kohlhepp, a seemingly unremarkable real estate agent whose 13-year killing spree went undetected for over a decade—until detectives uncovered a digital breadcrumb trail hidden within his bizarre Amazon product reviews.
From boasting about padlocks used to imprison his final victim to ominously rating folding shovels and chainsaws, Kohlhepp’s reviews foreshadowed his gruesome crimes with unsettling nonchalance.
This chilling two-parter is directed by 22-year-old Billy Arthur, whose previous works (Apple: The Trillion Dollar Betrayal, Forging Fate: The Disappearing Art Dealer) have already gained critical acclaim for their gripping storytelling. In The Amazon Review Killer, Arthur brings his signature cinematic style and investigative depth to one of the most disturbing cases in recent American history.
Using archive material, bodycam footage, and interviews with psychologists, law enforcement, survivors, and the families of victims, The Amazon Review Killer paints an unflinching portrait of Kohlhepp’s methods and motives.
Billy Arthur, Director, said: “Todd Kohlhepp lived out his twisted impulses in plain sight, and the Amazon reviews he left are a horrifying example of how someone can hide behind the mask of normalcy — until the mask cracks. It was a privilege to bring this shocking story to light in a way that honours the victims and highlights the resilience of those who survived.”
