St Gregory’s pupils enjoy Christmas bread-making masterclass

The workshop was hosted by the Room Forty Baking School, where students each crafted a Christmas tear-and-share bread wreath and orange and cranberry biscotti.

Jen Perry, who leads the Room Forty mobile afternoon tea emporium and baking school, said: “The students were amazing.

“All were enthusiastic and talented.

“This was a tricky bake as each roll had different flavouring and their results were fantastic.

“We had run a similar class for adults earlier in the week, the students’ results were as good, if not better than the adults.”

Ms Perry added: “We are passionate about teaching young and old to bake real bread from scratch and were thrilled to be invited in to St Gregory’s.

“We’d love to come back.

“Room Forty is proud to be involved in a pilot project in conjunction with the Real Bread Campaign commencing in 2025 that will hopefully involve more local schools.”

Mrs Cross from St Gregory’s Catholic High School said: “The pupils had a fantastic day, and were really proud of what they made.

“I can’t thank Room Forty enough for working with our young people.”
