Highland Council said they attended a report of the lights being out overnight, and identified a loss of supply from SSEN.
A SSEN Distribution spokesperson said they are currently investigating the fault.
They said: “We’d like to thank pedestrians and drivers in Inverness for their patience today as our teams continue with their work to restore the power supply to the traffic lights at Ness Bridge, which are currently out of operation due to an underground cable fault.
“We appreciate the inconvenience that this fault on our cable network has caused, especially with the current winter weather conditions, and we’re on site working to restore the power supply to these lights as safely and as quickly as possible.
“We ask that pedestrians and drivers take extra care while we undertake these works.”
