A school has been forced to close today due to having no heating.
The ‘isolated utility issue’ meant pupils were unable to attend lessons at Spalding Academy, which also has limited water and electricity.
Work is underway to resolve the issue.

“Due to an isolated utility issue at Spalding Academy on January 7, 2025, we took the decision to close the school,” Lucy Conley, chief executive officer of South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, said:
“Although this is a site-specific issue, it is not something that we have any control over and we are working closely with the National Grid, who are currently on the school site to resolve this matter and ensure the school can re-open.
“The impact of this external utility failure is that the school currently has no heating, limited water and limited electricity across the site and an extremely limited network infrastructure.
“Once it was clear that we would not be able to open, our school closure procedure was activated, with all communications completed by 7.30am and we will continue to communicate with parents regarding the issue.”
