Zak Dunne, a young rail enthusiast, was invited to the driver training academy at Southend Central for a special post-Christmas treat.
The visit was arranged after Zak sent a heartfelt letter to c2c’s managing director, Rob Mullen, last month, declaring his fandom for c2c and their Class 720 trains.

Zak got the chance to experience life as a trainee driver and take part in activities designed to inspire a passion for the rail industry.
His excitement and extensive knowledge of the c2c route and trains were evident.
Managing director, Rob Mullen said: “We were thrilled to welcome Zak to our simulator centre and to see his enthusiasm for the railway.
“He was full of beans. He has a really good knowledge of train driving, asked some questions, a really sensible kind of understanding of safety and, why we do things.

“Receiving his letter was something that I will never forget and being able to bring him down in person and see his enthusiasm for c2c first-hand was an experience to treasure.”
In the lead-up to the visit, c2c also sent Zak some goodies as a Christmas treat.
Zak’s father, Drew Dunne, said: “As a father, there is nothing better than seeing your child so happy.
