Southend Horror-on-Sea film festival this weekend: what’s on

The Horror-on-Sea film festival made its return to the Park Inn Palace Hotel on Church Road, Southend on Friday.

It will feature more than 100 feature films and short films to be showcased to fervent horror fans between Friday and Sunday across the next two weeks.

Friday’s screening was kicked off by the terrifying anthology film, Very Frightening Tales by Dale Fabrigar at 10am, and finished with feature film the Containment by Jack Zagha Kababie and Yossy Zagha at 10.30pm.

The first Saturday will see Bring me a Skin for Dancing by Randy Kent kick off proceedings at 10am, and will end with Horror-Scopes: Volume 3 – Dark Zodiac, which will see 12 tales of horoscope-based misfortune.

When the Trash Man Knocks directed by Christopher Moore will begin Sunday, and end with the thrilling tale on an affair gone wrong, Deviant, directed by Daniel Caniero.

January 17 will begin with monster flick Bloodspawn, and end with supernatural horror in 1978 by Nicolás Onetti and Luciano Onetti.

January 18 will begin with thriller the Cellar by Jamie Langlands, and end with Take Your Bible and Run by Alexis Wawerka.

January 19 will begin with Santastein by Manuel Camilion and Benjamin Edelman, and end with Lust, Magic and the Witches’ Sabbath by Andrew Chambers.
