Data released by the Department for Education in December show how pupils fared in their GCSE exams and how much progress they made between years 7 and 11.
South Wilts Grammar School on Stratford Road topped the table for the Salisbury parliamentary constituency for state and grammar schools.

Specialist schools, such as Salisbury Academy for Inspirational Learning (SAIL) and Exeter House Special School, are also not included in the datasets.
Use our interactive table (below) to see how your local secondary school fared in three metrics: Progress 8, Attainment 8 and GCSE results.
Progress 8 shows how much progress pupils made between the end of key stage 2 and the end of key stage 4, compared to pupils who got similar results in year 6.
Attainment 8 shows how well pupils have performed in up to eight qualifications.
Grammar schools led the charge in Salisbury, as South Wilts topped the table in all three measures, followed by Bishop Wordsworth’s on Exeter Street.

Dr Amanda Smith, who returned to South Wilts to take up the headteacher mantle in September, has expressed her pride at the standings.
“It’s a remarkable set of results,” said Dr Smith.
“I led an assembly yesterday, and I said to the students that it is a privilege to lead a school of this calibre. I’m immensely proud of them.
“The results are brilliant, but our students leave as a really well-rounded young people. They are engaged in their learning, school life and the community.
“We’ve got some wonderful staff and very supportive parents, and they are contributing factors, but credit must go to the students themselves.”
Bishops Wordsworth’s scored well (Image: Newsquest) Dr Smith was previously South Wilts’ deputy headteacher, but she left in 2020 for Poole Grammar School before she chose to return.
She added: “When the opportunity came up for me to come back as headteacher, it was a no-brainer.
“The range and breadth of their achievements comes through every day. We want to be a school that is part of the community of Salisbury.”
