Across South Ayrshire, there are several commercial opportunities available on the market.
Whether it be a business seeking a new owner, or a former shop looking for someone to take over, there are a plethora of options within the county.
Below, we take a look at just some of the businesses and commercial properties that are currently for sale as the new year gets under way.
1. South Beach Hotel, Troon
This is described as a “unique opportunity” to buy the seafront hotel that has been owned by the same family for more than four decades.
The hotel has 28 rooms, with a main bar, lounge and large function room on the ground floor.
The current owners are looking to retire, and the hotel is said to trade “very profitably” in the prominent location.
It is on the market for £2.5 million, and more information can be found on Rightmove.

2. Playhouse cinema, Ayr
The former Ayr Playhouse site was put on the market for sale or lease last year, after Mecca stopped using the building as a bingo hall.
The art deco, category B listed building dates back to the 1930s, and was most recently owned by a Manchester firm.
The building has not been used as a cinema since the 1960s, after being built by architect John Fairweather.
It was sold at auction by investment property auctioneer Acuitus for £432,500 in summer 2021.

4. Harleys & Printhouse, Ayr
One of Ayr’s most popular night-time venues was placed on the market back in October.
Harleys Bar in Nile Court and the upstairs Printhouse events venue is being marketed by Christie and Co for offers over £950,000.
The venues are run by Fraser MacIntyre, head of the Beatbox Leisure brand, who confirmed the proposed sale of the sites.
Harleys has been operating for many years, with live music and performances each weekend as a bar and nightclub.
The upstairs space was previously used as the Powerhouse and Furys nightclubs, before being transformed into the Printhouse.

5. Berkeley Hotel, Ayr
The Berkeley Hotel, on Barns Street, is not currently operational, and a new owner is being sought.
The hotel has the potential for 13 letting bedrooms, alongside a restaurant and bar in an impressive period building.
It is described as a “prime investment opportunity” close to the hear of Ayr town centre, with an £850,000 price tag.

NB: A business being for sale does not imply plans for closure – with many continuing to operate whilst listed on the market.
