Lloyd Broadhurst, of Beckett Drive in Winwick, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old was arrested after he breached his suspended sentence, less than two months after he was spared jail.
At his last sentencing in May, Broadhurst avoided immediate imprisonment after he threatened his dad with a knife on January 11, 2024.
The confrontation began when Broadhurst asked for money to buy alcohol and ‘came at’ his father with the weapon while he curled up on the floor.
The 29-year-old then discarded the knife and proceeded to throw ornaments and objects before approaching his dad with his fist.
Broadhurst appeared before Liverpool Crown Court His dad fled the property and called the police, but did not press charges. Broadhurst was charged with affray.
Defending Broadhurst at that sentencing hearing, Mr Wood told the court that the 29-year-old’s dad would allow him to return to the home.
“He would welcome his son back and he wants very much for his son to get the help he needs,” he said.
Judge Michael Armstong noted that Broadhurst had an ‘overwhelming need’ for rehabilitation and sentenced him to 32 weeks imprisonment, suspended over a period of 18 months.
However, it was less than two months later before Broadhurst breached this sentence by assaulting his dad on July 29.
At his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, the 29-year-old was sentenced to 32 weeks immediate imprisonment for his previous offending, and a further four weeks to be served consecutively.
