Siobhian Brown wants women affected by changes to the state pension age to attend the Holyrood Chamber on Tuesday, January 21.
The debate will focus on the “ongoing injustice” faced by more than 350,000 women in Scotland who were not informed of changes to the state pension age.
The changes left women born in the 1950s with an additional six-year wait before receiving their state pensions, causing financial difficulties for many.
New figures show 8,610 women in South Ayrshire may have lost out on pension payments due to this lack of communication.
Despite a promise from the Labour Party to compensate them, the UK government has now backtracked on that commitment.
The Scottish Government continues to demand that WASPI women receive the compensation they are owed, raising the issue once again in the upcoming Holyrood debate.
Siobhian Brown MSP said: “The Labour government’s betrayal of the WASPI women is utterly shameful.
“Up to 8,160 women in my constituency have lost out due to a mistake made by the UK government.
“Many of them have fought for years to rectify this injustice.
“For Labour, after only months in power, to break their promise of compensation is wrong and a massive breach of trust.
“The SNP will keep fighting for WASPI women, and we urge the Labour government to reverse their decision and make things right.
“Please join us at the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday, January 21 from 2pm to support the WASPI women in this critical debate.”
