A “social spaces” initiative is returning next week for its third year, based at three village halls in the Sinclair’s Bay area.
Sinclair’s Bay Social Spaces began in 2023 as a response to the cost-of-living crisis, offering warm spaces within the community and providing refreshments. It was rebranded in 2024 to reflect the social benefits.
It is delivered by Sinclair’s Bay Trust, whose chairperson Maysie Calder said: “The project has had a great response across the Sinclair’s Bay community in its first and second years.
“The feedback we received from our community really helped us to evaluate and develop the project into what it is today – a space for the Sinclair’s Bay community to get together within their immediate communities once a week to share a cuppa, enjoy a bowl of soup and catch up during the colder, sometimes lonelier, winter months.”
Last year the project served up more than 300 lunches and many more hot drinks between January and March.
The 2025 schedule will begin in Keiss village hall on Wednesday, January 15, followed by Staxigoe hall on Thursday, January 16, and Reiss and Killimster hall on Friday, January 17. It will continue on these days, in these halls, for 10 weeks.
Kerry O’Keefe, community development officer for Sinclair’s Bay Trust, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming back the community for a third year of Sinclair’s Bay Social Spaces.”
