Simply Pleasure Limited, located at 71 Bondgate, submitted the application for the renewal of its sex establishment licence to Darlington Borough Council.
The application, made by Timothy Hemming of Simply Pleasure Limited, was filed on December 30 under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.
The application states the business seeks to continue operating as a sex shop.
The application has been made under section 2 of the Miscellaneous Provisions Act, which governs the licensing of sex establishments including sex shops, sex cinemas, and sexual entertainment venues.
The council, as the licensing authority, is responsible for granting, renewing, or refusing licences to such establishments.
As part of the process, any person wishing to object to the application has been invited to do so.
The notice from Simply Pleasure Limited states that objections should be submitted in writing to Darlington Borough Council’s licensing department, detailing in general terms the grounds for objection.
Objections must be received by January 27 by writing to Darlington Borough Council, Licensing, Town Hall, Feethams, Darlington DL1 5QT.
Meanwhile, hearings for the Byers Gill Solar Development are set to take place virtually.
The development, located between Darlington and Stockton, includes a solar farm that generates over 50 megawatts of electricity and a battery energy storage system.
The hearings will examine specific issues related to the development and compulsory acquisition matters.
Interested parties are invited to participate.
The solar farm, which covers approximately 490 hectares, is divided into six panel areas.
