Shawarma House to open on Friarage Street in Northallerton

Signage and branding for ‘Shawarma House’ have been seen on Friarage Street on the building that used to house takeaway Kam Bo House.

Shawarma House in Northallerton (Image: NORTHERN ECHO) This new opening comes after Kam Bo House closed following a zero-star hygiene rating for the business during an inspection on October 24, 2024.

During the inspection, Kam Bo House was ranked ‘improvement necessary’ in hygienic food handling, ‘urgent improvement necessary’ in cleanliness and condition of facilities, and ‘urgent improvement necessary’ in management of food safety.

The gold lettering on the front of the house has since been replaced by the sign for Shawarma House; a new restaurant that has taken Kam Bo House’s place on the street. 

Limited details about Shawarma House are known at this time but The Northern Echo has attempted to contact the owners.

Shawarma House (Image: NORTHERN ECHO) In new images of the business, Shawarma House can be seen with new branding and signs, but not much of the inside can be seen, due to having a whited-out window and a ‘coming soon’ piece of signage painted over it. 

No suggestion of when the opening date for the food business has been shared with customers yet.
