At around 6.10am today Wednesday, January 8 police received a report of a concern for safety of a man who was found unconscious on Queen Street after sustaining a head injury following a suspected fall.
He had previously got off a train at Earlestown station.
The man in his 50s was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and his death is being treated as non-suspicious.

Meanwhile, Gill Forshaw wrote: “This is awful. R.I.P My thoughts are with the gentleman’s family x”.
After the man’s death, Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: “Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with his family at this sad time.
“I would like to thank members of the public who assisted in giving First Aid to him before paramedics and police attended.”
His next of kin have been made aware and a report is being prepared for the Coroner’s Office.
