A renowned Russian classical musician is set to perform on behalf of a local music society.
Pianist Nikita Lukinov will play on Nairn on Sunday.
Pianist Nikita Lukinov will take to the stage at the Nairn Community and Arts Centre on Sunday, January 19 at 2.30pm as part of the Music Nairn 2024/25 concert series.
In June 2023, he was awarded The Governors’ Recital Prize for the most outstanding end-of-year performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, marking the completion of his Master’s degree. That same month, Lukinov released his debut CD with the KNS Classical label, which has since been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Scotland, and Scala Radio.
Gramophone magazine celebrated his “extraordinary breadth and freedom of imagination”; The Scotsman newspaper described him as being an “exceptional talent”; while BBC Music Magazine named him as a “Rising Star”.
Performing on Music Nairn’s own Steinway Model B grand piano – considered one of the finest concert pianos in private ownership in Scotland – Lukinov promises to take audiences on a “rich musical journey”.
The first half of the programme will feature excerpts from Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, while the second half will see Lukinov joined by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland String Quartet for a performance of Beethoven’s ‘Piano Concerto No. 4, Op. 58’.
