Children’s author Robin Stevens will headline a Herne Hill literary festival for kids.

Stevens, celebrated for her Murder Most Unladylike series, will be joined by over 50 other authors at the Stepping Into Stories Kids’ Lit Fest next month.

They include former Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho, Yuval Zommer; designer Julia Donaldson and Sharon King-Chai.

The Stepping Into Stories Kids’ Lit Fest attracts around 6,000 participants each year.

The week-long celebration of children’s books unites leading lights from children’s literature to share and celebrate stories.

Other speakers for 2025 include Chitra Soundar (Ballet Besties); Ken Wilson Max (Aqua Boy); Miriam Halahmy (The Bronte Girl); Sam Sedgman (Clockwork Conspiracy); Jennifer Bell (Magicia); Gabby Dawnay and Alex Barrow (If I Had A Dragon); Matt Goodfellow (The Final Year).

2025 also sees the ‘Stepping Into Stories Competition’, which invites children of all ages to tell their own stories.

This year’s theme is ‘Reach For The Stars’. The deadline for entries is January 10, with prizes awarded on Saturday, February 8, by Robin Stevens.

Mo O’Hara, children’s author and festival co-director, said: “Our aim through this festival is to make sure that children from all backgrounds have access to amazing books and diverse role models to spark a lifelong love of reading.”
