The character, who acts as a road safety ambassador, is touring five local nurseries throughout this week.
These are: St Luke’s Early Years, Glencairn Early Years, Dalry Early Years, Woodlands Nursery, and Elderbank Early Years.
The visits are part of a larger road safety tour of early learning and childcare centres (ELCC), aimed at equipping young children with essential road safety skills and knowledge.
Ziggy, an alien character designed to learn about road safety, will engage with the children through interactive performances.
These performances will convey road safety messages through song, role play, and crafts.
There will be a variety of activity stations, providing an immersive learning experience centred around playful learning.
A town-scape playmat, complete with traffic lights and a zebra crossing, will help reinforce road safety skills through imaginative play.
Debbie Nicol, assistant director at Road Safety Scotland, said: “It is important that children are immersed in positive road safety attitudes from a young age, both in the classroom and at home, and we know that early experiences shape children’s future behaviour.
“Ziggy is a fun character with an important message and visits like these help create lasting memories about road safety.”
The Ziggy tour will also include visits to ELCCs in Dundee, West Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, and Inverclyde.
The Go Safe with Ziggy books, written by children’s author Lynda Kennedy and illustrated by Lynn Taylor, are freely available to all ELCCs and primary one classes in Scotland.
