The railway line between Newbury and Reading is blocked due to emergency services dealing with an “incident”.
Train services running between these two stations may be delayed or diverted, and disruption is expected until 5.45pm this evening (Tuesday).
Newbury Station
Great Western Railway has issued the following statement:
“We’re working with Network Rail and the emergency services to deal with an incident between Reading and Newbury as sensitively, quickly and safely as possible.
“While we are unable to run trains, you may use your train ticket, at no extra cost, on Reading Buses jetBlack 1 route which runs between Reading (Station Road), Theale (The Crown PH), Aldermaston (Bath Road), Midgham (The Angel PH), Thatcham (Cropper Close) and Newbury (Wharf). Please show your train ticket to the bus driver.
“We also have coaches that will be running between Reading and Newbury, in both directions.
“At Reading the coaches will run from the north side of the station. At Newbury they will depart from the Platform 1 side of the station.
“Your journey is likely to be delayed and take up to 90 minutes extra to complete.
“Some trains will be revised only completing parts of their normal journeys and there will also be some cancellations.
“High speed long distance trains may be diverted via alternative routes or held in stations some distance away from the affected area, this is necessary to prevent further disruption to your journey.
“If you have not set off yet please check your journey before travelling.
