Prudhoe North county councillor and mayor Angie Scott said: “I am calling for urgent action to increase accessible local training provision in Prudhoe to address a growing need to raise skills levels and improve opportunities for residents.
“Prudhoe is a vibrant and resilient community, but it is not without its challenges. Some areas within the town face significant social deprivation, which limits access to opportunities and hinders economic growth. To secure a brighter future for all, it is essential that we provide pathways for upskilling, enabling residents to gain the confidence and qualifications they need to access meaningful employment.
“We need tailored courses that match the needs of both learners and employers, creating a thriving local workforce that benefits individuals, families, and the community as a whole.
“By investing in skills development, we can unlock potential, reduce inequality, and build a stronger, more prosperous Prudhoe. I urge Northumberland County Council, local training providers, educational institutions, and funding bodies to work collaboratively to bring these vital opportunities to Prudhoe.”
