Prince’s Mead School has announced that Chris Lowe will take the role from this month.
Mr Lowe, who was born in Winchester, has been a member of the governing board since 2019.

“I look forward to working with my fellow governors and the exceptional leadership team to support the school’s vision and ongoing success.”
Mr Lowe and his family have a long history in Winchester, with his grandparents having run The Railway Inn on St Paul’s Hill for 30 years.
He and his wife educated all three of their daughters at Prince’s Mead.

He is passionate about the school’s ethos of providing every child with the opportunity to flourish.
Head of Prince’s Mead, Adam King, said: “We are looking forward to Chris becoming our new chair of governors. His expertise and passion for education will undoubtedly add great value to our school community and its future development.
“I have every confidence that he will help us to continue to foster an environment where our pupils and staff will thrive.”
Mr Lowe will succeed Mel Renwick, who has served as chair of the governors since 2019.
Ms Renwick helped to guide the school through a period of growth and transformation, including an extension to the Grade II listed Worthy Park House, the adoption of a Pre-Senior Baccalaureate programme of study, the opening of the school’s nursery, and achieving excellence at the school’s last ISI inspection.
